Why Does This Base Design Work?

A centralized Clan Castle and Mortar define this TH4 war base. The layout utilizes five compartments to protect key structures. The Mortar provides excellent splash coverage from the core compartment, which also contains the Town Hall. The single Air Defense sits in a protected side compartment, flanked by an Archer Tower and a Cannon. This design effectively counters mass Balloon and Giant-based ground armies. The external buildings create a buffer zone, forcing attackers to deploy troops at a distance from the primary defenses, which helps to disrupt initial funneling.
