The Eagle Artillery activates when 200+ troop housing space is deployed and fires long-range splash projectiles dealing 300 DPS in a 3-tile radius. It has a 7-tile dead zone around it where it cannot target troops.
The Eagle Artillery is the defining defense of TH11 and above. Unlocked at Town Hall 11, it remains the longest-range defense in the game with a range that covers nearly the entire base. Each shot fires 3 projectiles in rapid succession that deal splash damage on impact.
The 200 housing space activation threshold means attackers cannot trigger it with just a Queen Charge (typically 30-40 housing space with Healers). Most attacks trigger the Eagle Artillery when the main army is deployed. This creates a strategic window: the Eagle Artillery is inactive during the opening phase, then activates to deal maximum damage to the clustered main army.
Position the Eagle Artillery in a central compartment offset from the Town Hall by 4-6 tiles. Surround it with 2 wall layers, high-HP buildings for padding, and a Seeking Air Mine nearby to catch Blizzard attacks.
Central placement maximizes the Eagle Artillery's range coverage across the entire base. However, placing it directly next to the Town Hall creates a high-value cluster — attackers who reach the core destroy both targets simultaneously.
The optimal position offsets the Eagle Artillery 4-6 tiles from the Town Hall in a separate compartment. This forces attackers to choose between targeting the Eagle Artillery or the Town Hall first, splitting their army's focus. Place 2 storage buildings adjacent to the Eagle Artillery — their high HP absorbs splash damage from Lightning Spells and Queen shots, protecting the Eagle from chip damage.
At TH15+, position the Eagle Artillery within range of a Spell Tower set to Rage mode. When the Eagle Artillery activates, the Rage Spell Tower boosts its attack speed, creating a devastating damage amplifier during the critical mid-attack phase.
The Eagle Artillery has a 7-tile dead zone radius where it cannot attack troops. Attackers exploit this dead zone by pushing troops close to the Eagle Artillery, where it becomes useless.
The 7-tile dead zone is the Eagle Artillery's primary weakness. Any troop within 7 tiles of the Eagle Artillery is immune to its attacks. Attackers exploit this by using Queen Charges, siege machines, or Root Riders to breach the core and position troops inside the dead zone.
Defenders counter the dead zone exploit by surrounding the Eagle Artillery with high-DPS point defenses (Inferno Towers, X-Bows) that punish troops entering the dead zone. Place the Clan Castle within the dead zone so that defending CC troops engage attackers while they're unable to receive Eagle Artillery support — the CC troops benefit from being inside the safe zone while the Eagle Artillery handles distant threats.
