Electro Dragon attacks deploy 6-8 Electro Dragons in a line formation to exploit chain lightning that bounces between buildings within 2 tiles of each other. Each chain hits up to 5 targets, dealing 420 damage per bounce at max level, destroying clusters of buildings simultaneously.
The Electro Dragon (E-Drag) is a 30-housing-space air troop unlocked at TH11 with 5,100 HP and chain lightning that deals 420 damage per target, bouncing to up to 4 additional buildings within 2 tiles. This chain mechanic makes E-Drags devastating against bases with tightly packed buildings.
A standard E-Drag spam army at TH11-TH13 includes 7 Electro Dragons (210 housing space) + 5 Balloons (25 housing space) + CC Siege Machine. At TH14+, compositions shift to 6 E-Drags + 1 Super Dragon or 6 E-Drags + Lava Hound for tanking.
E-Drags attack slowly (3.5 second attack interval) but each attack chains across multiple buildings. Against a clustered base, a single E-Drag can damage 5 buildings per attack — effectively dealing 2,100 total damage per hit across the chain. Over a 3-minute attack, one E-Drag outputs approximately 36,000 total damage.
The E-Drag death damage explosion deals 24 damage per housing space in a 3-tile radius. With 30 housing space, that equals 720 death damage — enough to weaken surrounding buildings for chain lightning from other E-Drags to finish.
E-Drag attacks succeed against bases with buildings placed within 2 tiles of each other. E-Drag attacks fail against bases with 3+ tile building gaps that break the chain lightning path.
Anti-E-Drag bases space buildings 3+ tiles apart to break chain lightning connections, place single-target Inferno Towers in separate quadrants to burn E-Drags down individually, and use Air Sweepers to push E-Drags away from the base core.
Building Spacing is the primary anti-E-Drag defense. Chain lightning requires buildings within 2 tiles to bounce. Spacing buildings 3 tiles apart breaks every chain, forcing each E-Drag to destroy one building at a time instead of damaging 5. This spacing alone can double the time E-Drags need to clear a base.
Single-Target Inferno Towers are the strongest anti-E-Drag defense. A ramped single-target Inferno deals 1,680 DPS — it destroys a max E-Drag (5,100 HP) in approximately 3.5 seconds. Place 2-3 single-target Inferno Towers in separate base sections so E-Drags encounter at least one regardless of attack angle. The Inferno Tower Guide covers anti-E-Drag Inferno configuration.
Air Sweeper Positioning disrupts E-Drag formation. E-Drags move at 12 speed (very slow). Air Sweepers push them backward, adding 3-5 seconds of travel time per sweep cycle. Position both Air Sweepers facing the two most likely E-Drag entry angles (typically the sides with the most accessible Air Defenses).
Air Defense Centralization forces E-Drags into the core. Air Defenses deal 400 DPS at max level and specifically target air troops. When Air Defenses sit deep in the base, E-Drags must push through outer defenses and Inferno Tower range to reach them.
Seeking Air Mine Distribution weakens E-Drags as they enter. Each Seeking Air Mine removes 2,100 HP from an E-Drag (41% of max HP). Place Seeking Air Mines along the outer ring where E-Drags first enter the base to damage them before they reach the core defenses.
Anti-E-Drag spacing does create vulnerability to ground attacks. Balance 3-tile spacing in the air defense zone with tighter compartments in ground-defense areas. Browse TH13 Anti-Air Bases for designs that counter both E-Drag and LaLo strategies.
E-Drag attacks use 3-4 Rage Spells to boost DPS through high-defense zones, 1-2 Freeze Spells for Inferno Towers, and 1 Poison Spell for CC troops. The Grand Warden in air mode provides the Eternal Tome ability that makes all E-Drags invincible for 3.5 seconds.
Rage Spells amplify E-Drag chain lightning damage by 180% and increase attack speed. A Raged E-Drag chain deals 756 damage per bounce instead of 420, destroying most non-storage buildings in a single chain. Deploy Rage over groups of 3+ E-Drags entering a dense defense cluster.
Freeze Spells neutralize single-target Inferno Towers — the E-Drag's hardest counter. Each Freeze lasts 5.5 seconds at max level, enough time for E-Drags to destroy or move past the frozen Inferno. Carry 2 Freeze Spells to handle 2 separate Inferno Towers.
Grand Warden in air mode follows the E-Drag formation and provides passive HP aura (+130 HP at max level) to all nearby E-Drags. The Eternal Tome ability makes all troops within range invincible for 3.5 seconds — deploy it when E-Drags enter the base core where Inferno Towers, X-Bows, and the Eagle Artillery concentrate fire.
Barbarian King and Archer Queen are typically deployed as ground cleanup troops. After E-Drags clear 60-70% of the base, deploy heroes on the opposite side to clean up remaining buildings and secure the 3-star.
Battle Blimp delivers CC troops (Yetis, Super Wizards) directly to the Town Hall. The Blimp flies over walls while E-Drags distract defenses, providing a secondary attack vector that reaches the core even if E-Drags stall on the outer ring.
