Why Does This Base Design Work?

This Town Hall 8 'Fun' layout utilizes a highly compartmentalized, diamond-grid structure that forces ground troops into tedious wall-breaking scenarios. The core houses the Town Hall, Clan Castle, and Dark Elixir Storage, heavily protected by overlapping fire from central Mortars and the Barbarian King. While you won't find high-level defenses like Eagle Artillery, Inferno Towers, or X-Bows here, this TH8 relies on a dense network of Level 7 and Level 8 walls to exhaust attackers. The base features numerous small compartments, each typically holding one or two defenses like Cannons or Archer Towers, creating a frustrating maze for Giants or Golems. Wizard Towers are strategically placed near Elixir and Gold storages to punish clustered tier-one troops attempting to farm. Air Defenses are spread out in the mid-layer, offering decent air coverage. The 'fun' aspect of this design stems from its pleasing geometric symmetry and the chaotic, unpredictable pathing it causes for ground armies, often leading to entertaining time-fails as troops get bogged down breaking through layer after layer of walls.
